Just Finished

1. I just finished reading Eldest by Chris Paolini. In this book the main character is Eragon and his
dragon Saphira. In the end of the book there is a massive battle between the evil empire and the
Varden or the rebels. Eragon is on the side of the Varden. The battle starts to go in favor of the Empire because they have twice as many troops. Eragon is fighting as hard as hard as he can, but he begins to become weak and drained of energy. At that moment they see another army coming from the west. It is the Dwarfs and they are there to fight for the Varden. The Varden now outnumbers the Empire and the Empire starts to retreat. At that moment Eragon sees a red speck on the horizon. As it comes closer he realizes it is a bright red Dragon with a figure on its back. Eragon gets on his dragon Saphira to go confront his enemy. The two dragons clash in mid air and they fall to the ground. Eragon gets off of Saphira to fight the rider on foot. As they engage in a fight Eragon notices the other Riders fighting style. So he swings at his head and knocks off his helmet. He was surprised to see his old friend Murtagh. Murtagh tells him he is on a mission to capture Eragon but he will give him another chance because of their friendship.

2. I really felt like this book was slow in parts, but then something exciting would happen and pull you right back into the book. This is the second book in the series and I feel like the first book had the same writing style. The author pulled me into this book by starting battle or revealing new Information in the book that made you want to read more. I also think this book has the most interesting topic of any of the books I have ever read. Who would ever think to write a book about dragon riders, but it is enjoyable.

3. I think the main theme in this book trust. Eragon trusts his dragon Saphira and she trusts him. In the battle between the Empire and the Varden they have each others back Eragon protects Saphira from guys trying to slice at her legs and wings. While Saphira protects Eragon form overwhelming attacks she just burns them or swipes them with her tail.

4. My favorite character would have to be Saphira. Eragon is always trying to do something stupid and she will be wise and advise him other wise. She is also pretty funny and witty. She is always making fun of Eragon when he does something wrong or dumb. Also I like it when they are fighting because she destroyes everyone.

5. My least favorite character is Murtagh because he is a huge traitor. In the battle before he had o dragon and was fighting with Eragon and you think he dies. But he was captured by the Empire and joined their forces. Also the dragon egg hatched for him. He only did this because he was selfish and he didn't want to die. He could have easily said I'm not joining you and stay loyal to the Varden.

6. The ending of this book was so surprising that I would have never guessed what happened. I thought Murtagh had died in the first book, but no he's alive and I couldn't believe that he had a dragon. Also Murtagh told Eragon that they were brothers. Son of the evil dragon rider Morzan.
Murtagh also makes Eragon give him his sword because it was Morzans old sword that another Rider gave to him. It was rightfully his because he was Morzans oldest son. Overall the ending shocked me and had me thinking.
