Brisinger

1) In Brisinger by Chris Paolini Eragon and his dragon Saphira are at their home base the Varden.  They are talking in their tent when they hear a war horn. They climb out of the tent and they see 200 enemy soldiers climb out of their boats.  They know this will be an easy fight because the Varden has well over 5, 000 soldiers. The Varden send 300 soldiers into battle.  When the battle starts none of the enemy soldiers are dying. Eragon goes down to help them.  He cuts off a man's arm and the man does not flinch.  Eragon knows that there is something going on.  There is a curse on the enemy soldiers that makes them feel no pain.  While this is going on, Eragon sees a red speck on the horizon.  It is an enemy dragon.

2) I feel as if the book is getting too slow for me at parts. The book goes on and on about stuff they don't need to talk about. Like the author can go on forever talking about a landscape or a building. When this happens I find the book very boring. But when there is a twist or something exciting happens I can't put this book down.  I have mixed feelings about this book.  Overall, I think it is a decent exciting book.

3) The theme of this book so far is redemption.  Eragon fights Murtagh in the beginning of the book and he loses miserably.  Then later on in the book, Eragon becomes stronger and he fights Murtagh again.  This time he defeats Murtagh easily and his belief in his power is redeemed.  But Eragon is not satisfied because Murtagh still got away and Eragon knows Murtagh will be back bigger and stronger than ever.

4) My favorite character in this book is Nasuada.  She is my favorite character at the moment because she is the wisest.  Eragon keeps trying to make silly decisions and she always corrects him and tells him what is right.  She is a great leader because her father was the leader of the Varden.  She learned many things from her father and that is why she is so wise. Oftentimes the suggestions she makes seem absurd at first but then the outcome shows that it was the wisest decision.

5) My least favorite character in this book is King Galbatorix.  He is my least favorite character because the only person he cares about is himself.  He is a dragon rider like Eragon and he knows many things about magic.  He does not use magic for good but rather uses it for evil.  When you use magic it uses up your energy.  Instead of using his own energy, Galbatorix uses plants and animals around him so everything around him suffers and dies while he uses magic for his own good.

6) The next thing I think will happen in this book is Eragon and Murtagh will meet again and they will both be stronger but I think Eragon will come out on top. I think this because nobody is willing to give Murtagh energy to cast his spells.  All of the Varden are willing to give up a little bit of their power to help Eragon cast spells and eventually defeat Murtagh.  I also think there will be a battle between the Varden and Galbatorix's army because there has been an ongoing conflict between Galbatorix and the Varden throughout the series. I think it will end in a gruesome battle the outcome of which I cannot predict.
